Daphne (Efundem Njie) was born on September 20, 1988, in Buea and grew up in the beautiful coastal city of Douala, Cameroon. She loved to sing from a young age and grew up singing in her church choir.
Daphne grew up a tomboy, and music was her best friend. Her passion for music grew even stronger in high school, and she often uses music to escape difficult times.
While at university, she began visiting recording studios and making recordings for other artists. Since music was her first love, she seized the opportunity to start recording.
She released her first singles in 2013 and has continued to build a solid collection of exceptional tracks, which will be released soon. Her greatest inspiration so far has been God and her mother. Daphne also draws inspiration from her experiences and culture, resulting in a musical style that blends pop, Afro-pop, Afrobeat, reggae, makossa, hip hop, and urban music in general.
“I listen to all kinds of music, gospel and secular… gospel artists like Cece Winnas, Mary Mary, and Frank Edwards, and secular artists like Bebe Manga, Tiwa Savage, and Rihanna,” says Daphne.
She describes herself as down-to-earth and playful while remaining true to the moral values of her generation. Family is everything to her. When Daphne isn’t singing, she’s dancing, acting, and of course, running errands.
