Wamba Kuegou Sabrina Ruth, known professionally as Sabrina, is a Cameroonian Afropop and Afrobeats singer-songwriter born on November 6, 2001, in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Signed under Afrobit Productions since 2019, Sabrina has quickly risen as one of the most talented voices of the new generation in Central and West African music. Her unique voice, charisma, and authenticity have earned her recognition across Africa and beyond.
Sabrina grew up between Yaoundé and the West Region of Cameroon, where she spent part of her childhood with her grandparents. From a young age, she showed great interest in music and performing arts. At just eight years old, she began singing in a church choir in Bafoussam, an experience that shaped her vocal style and confidence on stage. Later, after joining the bilingual high school in Yaoundé, Sabrina continued nurturing her passion for music while pursuing her studies in the English curriculum.
Her professional career officially began in 2019 when she was discovered by Afrobit Productions during a casting session. Her voice, stage presence, and originality won over the production team, marking the beginning of a promising musical career.
In 2020, Sabrina introduced herself to the public with a blend of Afropop, soul, and rhythm that reflects her artistic maturity despite her young age. Through Afrobit’s support, she released several singles leading to her debut album “Love Agenda” in November 2021, a project that presented her versatility as both a singer and songwriter.
Sabrina’s major breakthrough came with the release of “Abele”, a stunning collaboration with Congolese icon Koffi Olomide. The song became a continental hit, propelling her into the international spotlight and establishing her as one of the leading Cameroonian voices in Afrobeats. Abele ranked among Koffi Olomide’s top ten collaborations and introduced Sabrina to audiences across Central and West Africa.
Her success continued with the single “Five Star”, which made waves across streaming platforms. The track debuted at number 3 on Spotify’s Top 50 chart in Luxembourg and reached the Top 15 on Boomplay’s charts in Nigeria, Gambia, and Kenya solidifying her growing influence across Africa’s digital music scene.
In early 2023, Sabrina was invited to perform at the prestigious Soundcity MVP Awards Festival in Lagos, sharing the stage with African giants like Davido, Burna Boy, and Tems. Her participation not only highlighted her international potential but also showcased Cameroon’s growing contribution to global Afrobeats.
That same year, she earned her first Canal 2’Or nomination for Best Female Afro-Urban Artist, a milestone that confirmed her place among Cameroon’s rising music stars.
