“Simon says”, but who is Simon? Zambian rapper Sampa The Great answers with “Simon Says”, the first single from her third album “Nu Zamrock” (October 30, 2026, Loma Vista Recordings). Simon is the system, the one dictating how an artist should look, act and sell, valuing numbers over art. Sampa openly shares the pressure of visibility. Musically, it’s an explosion: hip-hop, African rhythms and psychedelic guitars, inspired by Zamrock, Zambia’s 1970s rock, with her uncle George “Groovy Joe” Kunda a founding member of the band WITCH. This visualizer, directed by Iggy London with Nia Andrews as creative director, is produced by Park Pictures. Movement, costumes, fire and energy: everything breathes joyful rebellion. A pan-African cry for freedom, to share with everyone who refuses to fit the mold!
